Taqueria Los Ortiz Owner was born and raised in the south bay of Los Angeles. Frankie grew up eating street food from his city. In 2010, he moved to Hyde Park, NY, to attend The Culinary Institute of America. Frankie received a Bachelor’s degree in American Food Studies: Farm-to- Table Cooking. While a student at The Culinary, he studied under Chef Larry Forgione, the pioneer of farm-to-table cuisine. Which inspired him to work with local farmers and merchants in his career since The Culinary. After graduating he worked at country clubs in Westchester, NY, but always wanted to open a place of his own. Now Frankie calls the Hudson Valley his new home, with vast knowledge of local food and farmers, he continues to create food from his childhood. It is his belief that as a Chef, it is your responsibilty to showcase the bounty of what local growers have to offer, and it is with this mindset that the food will be inspired.
